Purrs to Verizon workers!
A pair of telephone repairmen in Queens helped rescue a cat in a tree this week, earning the feline a nickname in honor of the workers who saved it.
The Verizon workers were walking on Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village when they saw a cat hanging onto a tree limb with a cable cord tied around its neck. The two workers jumped into their cherry picker, which got them to the tree. They were able to cut the cord and grab the cat.

The cat has reportedly been named FiOs in honor of its Verizon heroes.
Hopefully FiOs found a nice forever home!
Poor kitty! It sounds like some humans were very mean to him before he got rescued by the Verizon humans. I found a news item that says he got adopted already! http://fios1news.com/longisland/node/12483
