Mondays Are for Memories: Suitcases

I have a love-hate relationship with suitcases. While they are fun to play in and sometimes comfy to sleep in (especially when the human has already put clothes in one of them), they usually mean that the human is leaving for an undetermined number of days. Sometimes I might travel with her, though.

When I was younger, my human had to travel a lot, and I quickly understood that suitcases were not a good sign: they have the power to steal my human from me!

One day, to show my discontent, I peed in an empty one my human had left opened. You think my human would have thanked me for trying to prevent the suitcase from kidnapping her? Pfft, not even! She was not pleased at all!

So I tried different techniques, but mostly sit-ins. It never deterred my human from leaving :-/

Yes, human. It is your lingerie. Why?

Do you like suitcases and if not, do you have a technique to make them disappear?

  1. Suitcases are very powerful things indeed. My Dalmatian used to sulk terribly when she saw one, although she never tried peeing in it :D She did climb in them, just like you (although she was quite substantially larger and had to get up to more antics to fit in :)

  2. Well I haven’t tried the pee trick BUT I always enjoy leaving my hair everywhere inside her suitcase so when she’s deserted me on a trip, she thinks of me constantly as she removes the hair from EVERYTHING!

  3. We love Daddy very much but when his suitcase comes out of the wardrobe, it means we get to sleep with Mommy (when Daddy is home, we kitties aren’t allowed in the bedroom).

  4. I have to be sneaky with the suitcase. Once my Yorkie sees it, she just freaks out. Barks, cries, and gets all jumpy. Anxiety Anxiety. She is “high strung” and the suitcase un-strings her. :)

  5. Ha, that is so cute and funny! When I lived in Italy and used to travel a lot, my kitties were the same way and started to realize suitcases were not a good sign and would try to hide in them so they could come along :-)

  6. Tex is that a teeny you up in those pictures? So dang cute and you have grown up to be a handsome boy. I am a human and I have a love/hate relationship with suitcases too. I love the thought of going some place but I am not a good traveler. I like home.

  7. Thank you for the wonderful memories that this brought back. Actually it was my Angel Bobo who also used to do “sit ins” with suit cases. Cody isn’t nearly as bothered by them as Bobo was, but then again, Cody hasn’t experienced me leaving as much as Bobo did.

  8. Ah yes, those dastardly suitcases…how we hate them. Mauricio has sprayed quite a few to show his displeasure. And once we furred one up so badly, the airline covered the whole thing is plastic wrap so our kittiness wouldn’t rub off on other passenger’s belongings. How rude? You really have a knack for settling in and making yourself comfy. Hope you get to go on the next trip. 9. We don’t like suitcases either and we will have “sit-ins” in an attempt to keep LP from leaving but that doesn’t work! Ever!

  10. I’m starting to hate them too. Jay gets very upset when they appear and at first I didn’t understand why. Now I know. Hisssss

  11. Texas, is that a tiny little you at the top?!

We don’t even like it when our human goes somewhere for a whole afternoon. We don’t know what we’d do if she was gone for days.

  12. Hey Texas..so nice to meet you!! You are one handsome kitty. My grandkitty Bunny lives in Brooklyn,NY so I have a long distance relationship with her. She will be 20yrs.old this April. You look so young. Your just getting started. As my kitty boys would say to the peeing in the suitcase…You Go Texas!!!

  13. Whenever the suitcases come out, Moosey likes to try to fur everything inside of them up. We have to pack a lint roller, too. :)
