Mondays Are For Memories: Featuring Milou

Mondays Are For Memories: Featuring Milou

I thought I would feature Milou today and seize the occasion to give you some news about his health.

He is doing better – thank Cod! – even if there is always the occasional down day. He is even playing a little bit with Kitshka sometimes (although he is still hissing at me…)!

He has not gained back much of the weight he had lost though. The humans were particularly worried when he had stopped eating because Milou has always been a big, hungry kitty. Of course, the goal is not for him to gain all his weight back, but a little more of what he has now would be better.

For now, and after discussing it with the vet, the humans have decided to not do the biopsy because the procedure is very intrusive and heavy, especially for a 14-year-old kitty. Milou is eating about normally and the humans are hoping he can gain some weight back now.

Here are pictures of Milou taken back in 2006, in Paris:

He was a little chubby, wasn’t he?

Now, of course, it was 7 years ago, but Milou lost most of his weight really recently. Here is a picture of Milou (sleeping in my bed!) my human took this morning:

My human thinks he looks so small!

So, we are keeping an eye and some purrs for Milou. I continue to test his food to make sure it is good enough and he will want to eat it too (What?! I do this for him!).

Finally, here are two rare, peaceful pictures of the two of us, back in 2006 too (yes, it is a bit unfocused):

In other news, if I get to move my human’s popotin, I will have my (and her) BlogPaws review posted tomorrow. Wish me luck ;-)

Kitshka Friday: The Lady in the House

Kitshka Friday: The Lady in the House

I guess you’ve all seen what the humans have done with my emergency kibbles, yesterday. Well, I made it clear what I thought about how they acted. After the female human had gone, I threw kibbles all over the bedroom. That’ll teach them!

Since the female human is gone to some place where she is meeting other humans and some doggies (!) and kitties (!!) – Texas tried to explained but I didn’t really understand why she was going to something called BlogPaws while she had our paws blogging here… – I am the only lady in the house.

So I thought I would try what the female human is doing.

First, I slept where she usually sleeps on the human bed.

It was okay.

What I really wanted to try was her chair in front of her computer. Well, she left some of her stuff on the chair, but I could still sit on it. And there, it was the greatest place I had tried in hours!

It felt so comfy, I felt a little snooze coming…

Well, now I understand why the humans spend so much time in front of the computer: these chairs are the comfiest!

Humanology, cat planning and BlogPaws

Humanology, cat planning and BlogPaws

My human just left for BlogPaws this morning. I am a bit jealous because she is going to meet some of my furriends’ humans while I stay here with Kitshka, Milou, and the male human. But she’s also going to represent me so she will still be working for me while there.

Yep. I noticed the bug.
Humans are strange you know, that’s what makes humanology so interesting.
See, for example, this bug: I wanted to catch it to offer it to my human as a gift when she comes back. But this required keeping it fresh in the fridge (you can get some serious tummy aches with bugs that are passed the catch-by date). The male human refused to keep it in the fridge. He said something to the effect that my human wouldn’t like my gift. As if he knew what my human wants. She’s my human, so I know what she wants!

So he’s staying with us, which is fine because he likes to play wrestle with me with his hand. He thinks he is stronger than I am. If I was a human, I would burst out laughing like they annoyingly do. This hand without claws against my claws and teeth? Please.

I only hope he will remember to feed us. Kitshka has never been abandoned left for several days by my human before, so she’s particularly worried.
As you might remember, Milou has a special diet so he cannot eat our food. So K’s and my food is on some piece of furniture he can’t reach.

Kitshka designed a plan to be sure we wouldn’t be missing meals in case the male human forgot.
See the 2 pieces of furniture on which our bowl is? With time, a little gap appeared between the two.

For the past 2 weeks, every time Kitshka was eating, she stored a couple kibbles in the gap. She’s my girl!

Unfortunately, Milou, with his appetite back, smelled the kibbles.

This morning, Kitshka tried to make him leave for fear he would wake up the humans. She threw a kibble at him.

Unfortunately, my human was half awake and saw everything… including the stock of kibbles K had accumulated.

The humans moved the furniture to find this:

And they threw all this hard-saved kibbles away! A shame!

Hopefully, the male human will remember to feed us… To be continued.

Kitshka Friday: Daydreaming in the Kitchen

Kitshka Friday: Daydreaming in the Kitchen

When the humans are in the kitchen, I like to be not too far from them…

Sometimes, little yummy noms fall on the floor and I catch them help the humans clean up.

Sometimes, the humans want me to clean their fingers too. I like to clean their fingers.

But the best moment in the kitchen is in the morning…

That’s when the humans get the cream cheese out of that white and cold closet behind me… Mmmmh… cream cheese…

Is it the white closet they’ve just opened?!?

VBP Thursday: A few days in the life of me

VBP Thursday: A few days in the life of me

[Still not sure what VBP is? Check here.]

Posts on my bloggie have been sparse (VBP) again; visiting my furriends’ bloggies has been barely possible. Truth is some things happened in the past 2 weeks that I want to tell you about.

About two weeks ago, on a Saturday morning, I regurgitated (VBP) my food twice or thrice (VBP). My human thought I might have caught a bug (!) or something and rushed me to the vet. Truth is my stomach and I were upset because an evil suitcase had appeared.

Anyway, the visit to the vet was quite a thing. The nice vet had a new assistant which I decided I didn’t like (remember there was the suitcase in my human’s bedroom). So I was not really nice. But I had nothing to do there! I wanted to go home and I wanted the suitcase to disappear!

The vet gave me some fluids and sent me home asking the humans… kitties, hold on to your scratching post… asking the humans not to give me food for 24 hours! 24 HOURS!! I thought I would starve! And I almost did.

The day after, on Sunday, the human gave me my first food in 24 hours of forced starvation… and she took her suitcase and left for 3 days to sunny California, the home of some of my furriends (Sparkle, Savvy, Spitty…) without asking if I wanted to come or send a message for them.

The human: Texas, I went there for work, I was in a delimited area in south Los Angeles, and I didn’t have much time even for myself!

Don’t bother reading the human’s excuses. Excuses, always excuses.

Then she came back on Wednesday morning, very early. I was very happy! Not an hour passed, she caught me, put me in my carrier and took me to a photo shoot!

The human: Texas, it was the Westchester Magazine photo shoot, remember? You asked your furriends to vote for you, and they did, and you were selected.
Texas: And because you have no time for me, I wasn’t yet able to tell them!
The human: We are telling them now.
Texas: Pfft. Back of disrespect. AND airplane ears (I think you like airplanes, don’t you?).

Anyway, it was kind of a dark place with some very bright spots, with HUGE lamps. It was kind of scary. And there were TWO pawpawrazzi! It lasted about 10 hours [The human: less than one actually], and there were dozens of dogs to force me to comply [The human: the next animal to be photographed was a dog, and arrived about 10 minutes before we left].

The human: Am I complaining that they took a picture of the two of us while I was just “fresh” out of the plane, which means not really ready for a photo shoot?
Texas: Who cares? I’m the star, am I not?
The human: You did behave like a little star, yes ;-) I couldn’t even take pictures of the photo shoot to show your furriends, because I had to run after you all the time. Not to mention the photograph had to take pics of you lying on the floor because you were hiding under the couch!
Texas: Hmpf.

I want to seize (VBP) this opportunity to thank again all my furriends who voted for me in the Westchester Magazine Pet of the Year Contest. I am one of the ten pets of the year and I will be featured in the March or April issue! More on this as soon as I have more news.

Here are last week’s pawticipants. As always, click on the bluey badge at the bottom of this post to enter your link for this week. And don’t forget to grab the badge! Thanks to everyone!

We had three links this past week from bloggies that entered their URL but did not pawticipate (we could not find any reference to VBP in any post). It would be unfair to pawticipants to post the links of bloggers who do not do a VBP post. So, if you don’t see the link to your blog, yet have entered one, you can post the link to your VBP post in the comments. If we have missed it, we will add it. Thank you for your furry understanding =^.^=
If you have any question regarding VBP, you can check the simple rules here and don’t hesitate to leave your questions in the comments!

Licks and… a bag!!

Today I conclude my thanks for the great prezzies we received the past year thanks to Zee & Zoey (check here and here).

We received a Lickety Stick, Salmon flavor. Of course, Milou and Kitshka loved it! They wouldn’t stop! Me? Hmmm, I have to say, not really. But Milou and Kitshka had no problem making up for me!

On the other hand, we all liked the World’s Best Cat Litter, which also came with a scooper and… a bag!!! A BAG!!!

Bags. The bestest human invention. After boxes.

Do you have questions for your humans? We do!

Yesterday, I was reading Daisy’s post at PetMeds Blog and I learned that today is National Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day!

Needless to say, all three of us – Milou, Kitshka, and I – have questions for our humans! So there you go!

Milou

How come I cannot eat Texas’ and Kitshka’s yummiest food?
Because it makes you seriously sick, then I have to get you to the V-E-T and he performs outrageous things on your business end to fix you.

Why are you feeding me only 18 times a day when I’m hungry 28 times?
Because I actually have to work so I can afford your diet food among others, and get a little sleep (I don’t require 18h a day but still).

I’m hungry. Can I have food now?
You had food 10 minutes ago!

Kitshka

Can the birdies outside be invited inside the house?
No sweetie, they are meant to live outside. Inside, they could not fly.

How come I cannot eat Texas’ and Milou’s yummiest food?
Because you have your special kitten food, so that you can healthily grow into a beautiful Ladycat. Texas is currently on diet food* and Milou has a special urinary diet.

Why don’t you let the cream cheese on the table, ever?
I don’t want it to turn sour.**

Me, Texas

Why don’t you eat fresh shrimps more often?
Because we don’t want to eat shrimps everyday.

Why can’t we keep all the boxes you receive?
I know you love boxes, Texas. And there will always be boxes for you to play with. We cannot have boxes everywhere though. We, humans, live here too, you know (not in boxes though).

How come I cannot eat Milou’s yummiest food?
Because Milou has a special urinary diet, he cannot eat*** anything else, and this type of food is very high in calories.

* Texas: Human! You didn’t have to tell!
** Kitshka: Yeah, right. Just because I am a kitten doesn’t mean I am stupid. You just don’t want to share!
*** Milou: Speaking of eating…

Helping French furry friends and something… compelling!

Hiya Furriends,

I hope you all had a great weekend, wherever you are!

First, I want you to know that something compelling (VBP) is coming up, so stay tuned!

~~~~~
If you haven’t read my post about Architects for Animals, you might want to check it here.
Interestingly (VBP), I recently read about an initiative that has some relation to this project. I read it at a French furriends’ bloggie Deux Chats dans ma Cuisine (Two Cats in my Kitchen) and I thought you might be interested in knowing about it and… helping. Don’t worry it is as easy as cleaning your toesies.
The project is called SOS Couvertures (Blanket SOS) and here is what it is about:
Animal shelters’ cages are located outside, so everytime temperature falls, animals are very much exposed to cold weather. Shelters then need blankets to help warm the animals.
SOS Couvertures’ goal is to help finance these blankets. Everytime someone clicks on the [clic] button (on the left) our sponsors finance 2 square centimeters (0.002 square feet) of blanket. Thank you everyone for your help.
That’s right. All you have to do is click on the “clic” button. You can do this once every 8 hours. Easy as cleaning your toesies!
You can see pictures of some delivered blankets here.
Can you click? It will benefit French shelters, but everyone can click.
~~~~~

And now, I offer you pictures of Kitshka in front of delicious noms (SHRIMPS!!!) to help you start your week well.

Can I have some? Can I have some??

Can I have some? Can I have some??

OMC! The human is putting one into bits for us! OMC!
