BlogPaws: The Good, The Bad, And The Furries

I thought that I would do a short review of my representative’s human’s experience at BlogPaws.

Texas a cat in New York, BlogPaws

“Better late than never,” say the humans. This is a very wise human saying, except when food, treats and play time are concerned. We, kitties, need the attention when we need it (often this moment is now). This review is overdue but what can I do? I work with a human (you know, the species that invents sayings to excuse themselves for their mistakes).

Also, I would like to paraphrase a very wise human, Jackson Galaxy, who, at the Strand Books event a couple of weeks ago, said something to the effect that animals don’t make excuses, there’s no “yes, but”… they just go (my human is not sure – see what I mean?! – of the exact quote, hence the paraphrase).
So let’s not sugarcoat this short review (kitties have no appetite for sugar anyway), but let’s also give the applause when it is due.

Let’s start with the positive.

My human really enjoyed her time spent at the conference and I really enjoyed what she brought back to us. Most of of what she brought back (see “bad” section). Mostly treats, and also some litter that she won from the cat lounge. We really, really liked the Natural Balance Perfect Bites Rabbit Formula!

My human said she learned from each presentation she attended (and there were many options).

What she loved the best though was meeting my furriends’ humans! In no particular order: Curlz and Swirlz, Sparkle, Feline Funnies, The Island Cats, Savannah’s Paw Tracks, Twinkletoe Tails, The Conscious Cat, Catsparella, Sebastian the Sensitive Soul, I Have Cat, Riverfront Cats, Cat in the Fridge, Zee & Zoey, A Tonk’s Tail, Tails from the Foster Kittens, Random Felines, Cattywumpus, Glogirly, Cathy Keisha, Cat Chat with Caren and Cody, Animal Shelter Volunteer Life, BJ Bangs, Brian’s Home… if I have forgotten anyone, that’s my human’s fault!

Among those bloggies, there are some that we discovered thanks to my human going to BlogPaws and meeting their humans! My human also talked and exchanged with many doggie bloggers.

And we have to give extra special thanks to my furriends from Curlz and Swirlz and their human who gave my human a special treat bag for me us kitties (and the human)!

Isn’t it super nice?

My human really enjoyed talking (mostly cats, she claims) with my furriends’ humans and said it was a well needed break for her (whatever that means… she’d better not talk about a break from us!).

She also liked to be able to see some of my furriends’ blogs win an award!

This is Plush Nerissa, with her Best Blog Writing award:

And this is Glogirly accepting the Best Cause Blog award for Fire Safety Rocks (this is cool!):

Overall, she said it was pretty well organized (she organized events before so she says she has a special eye [what?!] for this). She thinks that some of the communication could have been done a little better though and there is some room for improvement (the details are boring, so I “ctrl + X-ed” here – You’re welcome! She mentioned this in the survey).

Now for the Furries.

Here are some of the pics she took (they’re not all good, I wasn’t there to snoopervize!) of furry friends:

It is said that my human held a ferret, but I have yet to see the evidence. My human did meet with Odilia, and I am fine with this =^.^=
I am very disappointed that my human did not bring me one of the chicks that were there though.

My human felt that kitties were not set on an equal footing paw as doggies (a dog swag bag for cats?) and here too, there is room for improvement! This is a Cat’s World too too too too! Stop adding the “too,” human!

Anyway, if you have read through this, thank you! Here is the real short version of this review (What do you mean I could have started with this? Humans are never happy!!!)

Was it worth it? Yes.

Did my human have fun? Yes.

Did she learn something? Yes.

Can BlogPaws offer an even better experience? Yes, we’re sure they can (hint hint… kitties!)

But what about the bad, you may ask? (You did ask, right?)

BlogPaws’ humans are not responsible for the “bad” part. My human is, and since she brought this from BlogPaws, I mention it here.

Can someone tell me what THIS is supposed to mean?!??

Who’s Seven Today? Little-Not-So-Old Me!

Who’s Seven Today? Little-Not-So-Old Me!

Hiya everyone!

First of all, the VBP post will be posted exceptionally (VBP) by Kitshka tomorrow.

Now to really impawtant things.

How are you doing today? I’m glad that you came because my human has been preparing some treats for my purrthday just for me and I want to share them with my furriends! That’s you!

First things first: look at the beautiful cards I received from my furriends!

My very good furriend, Sammy!

Thank you Sammy! I love your hat!

My sweetest furriend, Savannah!

It’s an honor to have such a beautiful Ladycat sending me a card!

My human’s mother – the best cat sitter EVER! – sent me this yummy cupcake on Facebook!

purrfect cupcake

Doesn’t it look yummy? I bet it’s tuna!

And I also received chicken from Vincent, one of my Facebook fans!

Oh! I almost forgot: my vet sent me a cool ecard too!

Thank you all so furry much! And thank you to all of you who left wishes on my Facebook profile!

Look what I got!

4 different bags of treats, catnip puffs, a catnip pepper and… a tunnel! I love my catnip pepper already!

The tunnel is amazing! It sounds like crinkly paper and there are lights!

I received my best favorite ever food from Europe, thanks to Janina!

And as a cake, my human wanted to make me a tuna cake BUT since I had received all this wonderful food from France, I had my favorite: Tuna & Shrimps!

There is some for everyone, so help yourself! There are treats too! Go ahead! You can taste them all!

Then we can go play in my new tunnel!

Finally, the human had this weird idea to bake something for your humans too. When she told me what she baked, I was shocked! SHOCKED!

Wanna know what it is?

This could be part of our VBP post… take notes Kitshka.

Okay I tell you…

Cat’s tongues! Yes, in French, des langues de chat!

Have no fear! Those are just biscuits that have the shape of our tongues. Ah! Humans really!

You can throw some to your humans, and let’s have fun!

I want to pawty!

Late Halloween and trick or treating

Late Halloween and trick or treating

Humans say we are creatures of habits. But they are creatures of predictability!

They had prepared some treats for Halloween to give to kids. I don’t know whether that was because of Sandy (I heard the humans say 90% of our town had lost power! Talk about a Ceiling Cat-blessed home we have!) but no kid came. Not a single one. My human was kind of sad… not that she would have to eat the candy herself, but that possibly kids couldn’t have as much fun this year.

So a huge plastic pumpkin, 3 or 4 times the size of Milou’s heads, and full of human treats, was still waiting next to the door when my human suddenly, yesterday evening, just before going to sleep, had the most stupid idea ever. She emptied the plastic pumpkin and, guess what?

Yep. She put Greenies in the plastic pumpkin.

Of course Milou fell for it.

So did Kitshka (with Milou waiting in line for a second round).

Little not-so-old me couldn’t be bothered to enter my head in the pumpkin for a couple of Greenies so that my human could take a picture. I cannot be bought for a couple of Greenies! Now if she had put fresh salmon in there… No, no, no! I get my Greenies on my terms!

Furriends: I am back to reading your bloggies. No seriously. So I’ll see you in a short while!

We’re threatening to strike

Alright furriends, I am so not pleased with my human and her not giving me time to 1) post on my blog, 2) visit all my furriends’ bloggies (I tried this but didn’t manage to visit all of you yet – sorry).

Sooooo, being a French kitty, I’m threatening to STRIKE: no more purrs, no more letting my human pet me if we are not back by THIS Friday (and have additional dried tuna treats everyday and tuna juice twice a week)! You hear me human? Of course I will train Kitshka in the art of French strike.

Kitshka has started making banners out of Christmas gift paper she found behind a closet, hidden (!). Agreed, she needs a little more practice.

Today, we have planned a sit-in in front of the desk.

Oh and human, we KNOW where the Greenies are. So Friday is the lastest limit.

[My human was scared enough about the no-purring threat that she helped me post this one, so Kitshka and I have high hopes]

Happy Birthday Kitshka!

Today is Kitshka’s birthday. She is two months old. It is her first birthday at our home. Her home =^.^=

Despite the fact that she has already stolen all of our toys, my human bought her a new one for her first birthday with us, a Kong Cozie Kickeroo. It appears to be some kind of blue raccoon.
The label on the toy says “Your cat will love you for it.” Ahah! My human is trying to buy my little sister’s love! Well, here she is, playing with it during… about 1 minute and 18 seconds. Kids.

Happy Birthday Kitshka! Don’t forget tonight you’ll have a little special treat too. Well, that’s usually what my human is doing for me ;-)

Meow is with Ceiling Cat now

I am sad. Meow passed away.

“We are devastated,” said Mary Martin, the Santa Fe shelter’s executive director. “We were in a race against time to get the weight off Meow before he developed complications from his morbid obesity and we lost.”

Meow started developing symptoms, but shelter vets didn’t jump to conclusions.

“When we first heard Meow wheezing, we attributed it to possible allergies or the fact that he was moving around more in his foster home but treated it with further tests and medications,” Jennifer Steketee, shelter vet and Meow’s doctor said. “Many obese people and animals wheeze when they walk, but we didn’t want to assume anything.”

Buh-bye furriend. I know you’re in a better place now.
